Wander through a garden of magical lights as The Magical Lantern Festival returns to Chiswick House and Gardens.

Celebrate Chinese New Year with spectacular light installations and hand-made lanterns in the shape of animals and plants, on an enchanting walk through Chiswick House’s famous gardens.

Follow a magical lantern adventure through Europe, Egypt, Persia, India and China, as you retrace the ancient Silk Road, this year’s special theme. Meet illuminated sphinx and camels on the way, and see a magnificent lantern rendition of the Colosseum and a life-size replica of the ship that Chinese Admiral Zheng used on his explorations. Plus, keep an eye out for the giant luminous sculpture of the Houses of Parliament!

You can also taste exotic delicacies at the street food market, or step inside the glistening Eis Haus pop-up bar made entirely out of ice and filled with Chinese New Year-inspired ice sculptures. If you still have the energy, put your skates on and enjoy the 600-square-metre (6,460-square-foot) ice rink, try some virtual-reality headsets, or challenge yourself to solve tricky Chinese bamboo-lantern riddles.
